Loyal Service Award from Penny Brohn Cancer Care

Green People have been awarded a Loyal Service Award by the wonderful and dedicated team at Penny Brohn Cancer Care.

We are truly delighted that Penny Brohn have recognised our fund raising efforts over the last 5 years with this special award. Over several years we have raised £63,000 through sales of our organic beauty products by donating 30p from selected lines, provided products for raffles and supplied toiletries for the clients bedrooms.

We share the same passion to improve lives and help people suffering with cancer to live well.

Sue Losson & Ian Taylor from Green People accepted the award on behalf of Managing Director Charlotte Vohtz.

Eco energy at Green People

Green People is now using renewable energy to power its office in West Sussex.

Whilst previously the electricity was sourced from a green scheme, its new arrangement with Ecotricity means that the company is also contributing to an expansion of clean energy production capacity.

Ecotricity is dedicated to forwarding the development of renewable energy and has clusters of wind turbine farms across the UK that provide power for its customers, with more in the building and planning stages.

It also helps the environment in other ways, such as the creation of a woodland of 20,000 trees - one for each of its first 20,000 customers. The species of trees - a mix of oak, ash and beech - along with a mix of minor trees and shrubs were selected to offer diversity, amenity and wildlife benefit.

The organic skin care products that Green People create tie the company closely with nature and it is delighted to be able to support the planet by choosing a green source for its electricity.

Beeswax/berry wax vs petrochemicals

Green People is proud to use berry wax and organic beeswax in its natural skin care products instead of petrochemicals like paraffin.

They both perform a similar role - creating a protective barrier on the skin - but why should you use one over another?

Here are a few reasons:

Beeswax and berry wax are both truly natural ingredients. They do not need intensive industrial processing, like paraffin, which causes harm to the environment.
Beeswax and berry wax are both renewable resources, whereas the mining of fossil fuels cannot be reversed.
Beeswax and berry wax nourish the skin whilst protecting it, whereas petrochemicals create a clingfilm-like barrier that prevents the skin from breathing.
Beeswax and berry wax rarely cause irritation to the skin, whereas mineral oils (a form of petrochemical) are a common cause of break outs.
Beeswax can be certified organic (which is what we use in our natural skin care products) whereas petrochemicals never will be. Berry wax is totally natural but is not yet available in a certified organic form.
