Anti-Aging Skin Care.Do You Need It ?

One of the most interesting topics on skin care is 'anti -aging skin care'. As one gets older, the natural defence of our skin (and in fact of the whole body) weakens. 'Anti aging skin care' is about protecting your skin from the negative effects of aging process. 'Anti -aging skin care' helps in maintaining a young and fresh look for a longer period of time. However, 'anti -aging skin care' doesn't end just here. Besides maintaining your looks (good looks), 'anti- aging skin care' is also about retaining the resistance to disease. Though the awareness about anti- aging has increased over a period of time, still a lot of people are unable to recognize the aging symptoms (and hence are unable to determine if they are in need of additional anti -aging skin care measures).

Here is a list of visible anti- aging symptoms that will help you in the planning and execution of your strategy for anti- aging skin care: baldness, forgetfulness, greying hair, wrinkle formation, loss of eyesight or hearing loss and menopause. The occurrence of one or more such symptoms is an indicator for upping the ante on anti -aging skin care.

Note that we are talking about introduction of additional measures for anti- aging skin care, we are not talking about starting 'anti- aging skin care' altogether. 'Anti- aging skin care' actually starts much before the symptoms of anti -aging appear. Besides vitamin C, vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants too. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble anti-oxidant that is found in human blood and helps in building resistance against infection. Vitamin E is also known to inhibit cancer. Liponic acid is known to combat the signs of aging very effectively by reversing the skin damage caused by the aging process.

Phytochemicals form the other category of anti aging skin care products. Phytochemical are special chemicals that are extracted from plants. There are a variety of phytochemicals that are in use today. Phytochemicals prevent occurrence of cancer of certain types; these include prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer. That is why they find their place in anti- aging skin care products.

Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti -aging skin care products.

The field of anti -aging skin care products is vast and needs a lot of research. Though the currently available products are effective, they still have challenges to combat. Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and help get better and cheaper anti- aging skin care products.

However, anti- aging skin care products should be used only as a supplement to the natural ways of skin and body care. So, drinking a lot of water, getting a good night sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are essential means of delaying the aging process. No anti- aging skin care product can replace them really.

Green People Open Their First Concept Store!

Charlotte was in Sunny Barcelona this week to launch the official opening of Green People’s first ever concept store. The sleek and naturally designed shop was built using wood and other eco-friendly materials and was brimming full of our full range of skin and sun care, Oy!, Organic Homme, Organic Babies and mineral make-up products.

The Spanish media were entertained by Charlotte’s stories about setting up Green People and learnt about the ethics behind the company and our Fair trade initiatives.

Green People Power Up With Ecotricity

5 causes of dry winter skin

The cold winter months are the time of year when we are all more prone to dry skin thanks to a combination of environmental and lifestyle factors.

Of course your natural skin type will play a part in determining just how dry your skin gets but the chilly UK climate also does its bit to contribute to parched, thirsty skin.

Here are 5 causes of dry winter skin:

1. Dry air. Although it might feel like it is always raining, on cold days the air can be drier than in the summer.
   
   
2. Low humidity. Heating lowers the natural moisture levels in the air so there is less to hydrate your skin.
   
   
3. Wind. Spend an hour or two out in the whistling winter wind and your skin and lips will likely to be left feeling chapped and sore.
   
   
4. Cold. When the temperature drops, moisture levels usually also drop so your skin will struggle to maintain normal hydration.
   
   
5. Hot baths and showers. You might be tempted to warm up by taking a piping hot shower but very hot water strips skin of its natural moisture.

As well as the environment, there are many other factors that can also influence your skin to become drier, such as using beauty products that contain ethyl alcohol or eating a poor diet.

What to do about dry skin?

Body: If you are struggling with dryness all over this winter, we recommend treating your skin to a tub of organic body butter that will help to lock in moisture.

Eco energy at Green People

Green People is now using renewable energy to power its office in West Sussex.

Whilst previously the electricity was sourced from a green scheme, its new arrangement with Ecotricity means that the company is also contributing to an expansion of clean energy production capacity.

Ecotricity is dedicated to forwarding the development of renewable energy and has clusters of wind turbine farms across the UK that provide power for its customers, with more in the building and planning stages.

It also helps the environment in other ways, such as the creation of a woodland of 20,000 trees - one for each of its first 20,000 customers. The species of trees - a mix of oak, ash and beech - along with a mix of minor trees and shrubs were selected to offer diversity, amenity and wildlife benefit.
