If you love the scent of rose geranium, try a blend with our best selling ‘hero’ moisturiser, called Vita Min Fix.
'Vit Fix' is also for daily use, and contains powerful nutrients to revitalise normal, dry and mature skin types. The formulation is based on Jojoba Oil which mimics sebum – the body’s own natural skin lubricant. Avocado then delivers a rich source of skin essential Vitamins, including A,C,D and E (hence the name!). Evening Primrose Oil, and Marshmallow help the skin to regenerate, while actives like Bladderwrack Seaweed are included to promote the production of new cells, and also lend a rich source of trace minerals that support the face. ‘Vit Fix’ is delicately scented with fairly traded Rose Geranium.
Get spot on with the essential clear skin duo. Vita Min Fix is £3.60 (10ml travel size) or £14.95 (50mls) & Blemish Banish is a very concentrated 10mls at £6.50.

This funky pump dispenses a light, bubbly foam which can be rubbed straight into hands, or onto a cloth to target even the stickiest of faces, toys and high chairs when out and about. A multi-tasking product for busy but messy people up and down the land - this isn't just for kids, it has a myriad of uses for all dirty folk!

Natural Anti-bacterial Protection
The key anti-bacterial ingredient in the Sticky Hand Sanitiser is a Tea Tree extract, with powerful antiseptic properties. A key benefit with this kind of natural alternative is that no microbial resistance develops (unlike the most widely used synthetic antimicrobial in mainstream products, called Triclosan).

On-the-Go Germ Zapping
Just pump and go, no need to wash off or worry about kids licking hands or eating after use (a concern with most mainstream sanitisers) Sticky Hand Sanitiser is safe to ingest, and made with over 96% certified organic ingredients. The gentle citrus-scented foam leaves even sensitive hands and faces super soft. It is also suitable for little ones prone to Eczema (no chemical ingredients or Alcohol are in the formulation to strip or dry the skin.)

Two to tango? top self tans for the party season

Fake bake - has its blonde moment passed?
As summer comes to a close, The Daily Mail magazine polled beauty writers and social commentators about the ‘remorseless’ march of year-round, sunkissed glamour in the piece ‘Fake tan: how did it become the new normal?’ The article (accompanied by pics of Cheryl, Katie and Simon et al) claims that fake tan's move into the mainstream is now complete!
A summer survey of British 16 to 24-year-olds also found that 20% never apply suncream while abroad, and 40% would be disappointed to come back from holiday without a tan. Equally, health concerns amongst other groups means that high-factor suncream is selling better than ever, with a tan just as likely to come out of an indoor bottle than from outdoor exposure to ultraviolet rays.
However, our best selling Organic Self Tan is easy to apply, and colourless. It contains natural DHA (derived from sugar), which reacts with amino acids in the outer layers of skin. The results resemble a real tan in both colour and depth. Safe, non-streaky and effective, Organic Self Tan also has a distinctively pleasant aroma, created with Rose, Geranium and Sandalwood essential oils. It also won in its category at The Natural Health Beauty Awards, becoming the Best Fake Tan of 2011.
We aren’t boasting (well, okay, just a little), but there really is NO comparison to be made with chemical products that give off horrible odours that linger on... If you have oily skin problems, or any sensitivities, don’t forget to try a sample size of this line for the face; Soft Glow Gradual Tan has a gorgeous scent of vanilla, orange and mandarin.
Mintel estimate that Britons spend £35m on their bronzing habits in shops, and even more in UK salons. Of course, it used to be a treacherous route to 'get the glow'; bad smells, orange streaks and stains on clothing or sheets going well beyond the simple horror of poor application techniques. Regardless of time of year, large numbers of women, and a small but growing band of men, are sporting rich, dark-hued complexions on what would otherwise be pale faces, says social commentator Peter York.
Times columnist Hannah Betts concurs, saying ‘The Only Way Is Essex has taken Tangoing to its cartoonish, post-modern limit.’

Keep smiling with well conditioned lips

A little mentioned, but much loved line here at GP Acres is our gloss and scent free, organic lipsalve.

Whether you are facing harsh weather while walking the dog, or braving public transport to work first thing in the morning, getting protection from environmental hazards (even central heating in the office) is easy when you carry a good lip balm.

Wintery weather always has a negative effect on the condition of our facial skin; and indoor heating, gusty winds and low temperatures wreak a very special havoc on the lips - but this kind of seasonal discomfort, and soreness is not inevitable.

Green People created a gloss-free, flavourless and natural organic lip product to remedy the look of dryness and the feeling of cracking and peeling.

Soft Lips comes in a handy 10ml squeezy tube for lasting usage.

70% organic, and unisex for guys, girls, and kids!
Did you know:
The lips are very exposed on the face, and do not produce natural oils on their own.
Your pout is vulnerable to UV light lips do not contain any Melanin?

It really pays to nurture the look, feel and overall health of your best smiling asset, so pucker up beautifully with fairly traded Cupacu Butter which conditions, softens and protects, plus soothing Aloe vera actives, Vitamin E and Berry wax.

‘No Scent’ Soft Lips is so called because it is mild, and suitable for daily use by anyone with sensitivities as it contains no essential oils, just flavour free coconut and olive oils that enhance suppleness and deliver moisture to the lips.

Pop one into your kids schoolbag if their lips are ever uncomfortable. If you are taking a ski or sun break, it also has natural SPF8 protection against UV rays, and is a small carry-on that will help to combat the feeling of tightness when flying.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know...

Sodium lauryl sulphate – from engine degreaser to male skincare! This nasty is found in shampoos, body-washes and toothpastes. It strips oils from the skin which can cause irritation. It also allows chemicals to reach the blood stream - fairly eye opening, this one.

Synthetic fragrance is a leading cause of allergy and irritation for men. A by-product of petrochemicals, it commonly causes allergic skin reactions - some products can contain as many as 100 synthetic chemicals (quite why we can't fathom, as you really don't have to!).

Phthalates – from the plastics industry to male skincare products, this known hormone disrupting chemical is found in many skincare products. Can cause damage to the liver, kidneys, lungs, and the developing of testes. Not at all good.

Alcohol (Ethyl alcohol or Ethanol) - a volatile ingredient that dries out skin! Alcohol dissolves skin’s natural oils and lipids that provide protection to living skin cells. Has a preservative function - but not really a very good one in skincare, we feel.

Green People a rarity among natural & organic brands;

Organic Monitor have assessed over 50 international brands of natural cosmetic products, and ranked them, according to trade news sources. Brands that have received high naturalness scores include Green People (8). These new findings reassert that Green People are living up to their marketing claims (we are glad to hear it - thanks!)

In the recent study, a chemist examined product composition and grouped the ingredient formulations according to their "level of naturalness." Certified organic cosmetics received the highest rating (9-10), pure natural cosmetics got 5-7 ratings, and naturally inspired cosmetics got 2 rating, whilst conventional cosmetics only got 1 rating.

Less rosily, the findings also confirm that most natural brands are
not meeting their marketing claims. Many companies claiming to have "chemically-clean" cosmetics actually are falling foul - by including contentious, synthetic ingredients. Many are classified as semi-natural or naturally inspired, and even claim to be "100% natural."

Some organic cosmetic brands are also given low "naturalness" ratings; although their products contain certified organic ingredients, this is notweworthy because some lesser formulations have synthetic ingredients added in... not good!

Ecocert Toothpaste in stock

NEW!

  • Ecocert Certified + 100% Natural
  • Free from SLS and Fluoride

  • Bacteria fighting
  • Aloe Vera, Olive Leaf, Myrrh & Organic Essential Oils

Keep on brushing ... first thing in the morning and last thing at night!

Organic and Fairtrade pioneers Green People only use safe, natural ingredients in their newly certified Organic Toothpastes.

They deliver support to the teeth and gums with organic essential oils and Myrrh for protection against bacterial growth, and antiseptic Aloe Vera can soothe any tender feeling in the gums. All six flavours contain natural Betaine, which is also helpful for those with Dry Mouth Syndrome.

Some people suffer from recurrent mouth ulcers and gum problems which may be linked to the foaming ingredient Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), which is widely used in mainstream toothpastes.

One study showed that when mouth ulcer sufferers started using SLS-free Toothpastes, there was a 60% reduction in ulcers. Switching to an SLS-free toothpaste may be the answer to solving common conditions like gum problems, mouth ulcers, bleeding gums and gum disease. These are the big three oral health conditions which affect millions of people in the UK. Unfortunately it is not known exactly how many people have problems with SLS in Toothpaste, or have sore gums and ulcers as a result. However, trying a natural Toothpaste is an inexpensive option to explore (after visiting your Dentist for professional advice).

Green People also believe that you can choose whether your toothpaste contains Fluoride or not, as there are proven downsides to using this ingredient. (Around 10% of water supplies in the UK have Fluoride added already, which brings into question whether those receiving their Fluoride in this way also need to have it in their toothpaste!).

Try our Mandarin Toothpaste before your child's first teeth break through. If your child is accustomed to gentle brushing with a mild Toothpaste from the outset, regular brushing becomes easier later on. Founder, Charlotte Vøhtz says;
'Our Toothpastes are formulated to meet EcoCert Certified Organic standards, and the new Plant Actives will increase protection to gums and teeth as well. We hope that all of our customers will appreciate these improvements in our Toothpaste ranges'

She adds that;
'We do not use; sodium lauryl / laureth sulfate (SLS / SLES), artificial sweeteners, fluoride, alcohol, dyes, synthetic flavors or synthetic preservatives'

About the key active ingredients:
Aloe Vera – the well known desert succulent. The extract from the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller contains around 200 pure biological substances including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, bioflavonoids and essential amino acids. Aloe Vera's active ingredients strengthen the gums and tooth pockets and reduce soreness and swelling.

Betaine
- a sugar-free ingredient derived from sugar beet. This has a mild foaming effect, promotes saliva secretion and relieves symptoms of dry mouth. Decreased saliva flow results in dry mouth (xerostomia), which among other things gives discomfort, stinging or burning sensations, impaired swallowing function and increased risk of caries.

Olive Leaf Extract
- contains the bitter compound oleuropein - a powerful antioxidant with powerful anti-bacterial activity that can alleviate inflammation of the gums and help control the growth of plaque.

In sum, the benefits are;

• Ideal for sensitive gums
• Promotes salivary secretions
• Strengthens gums and gum pockets
• Can ease inflammation of the gums
• Can reduce ulcers and blisters in the mouth

So, all that remains is to choose your flavour - my fave is the Fennel!
